The journey of life meanders through forests of confusion, plains of loneliness and rapids of turbulence.

The future may look dim and uncertain.

God may seem to be hidden behind dark clouds.

The disciples of old must have felt like this.  Expecting to be raided and arrested at any given time, they locked themselves behind closed doors.  They must have wondered where God was.

On the road to Emmaus, two disciples suddenly realize, that Jesus had been walking alongside them the whole time.  Surely the words of their forefather Jacob must have rung in their ears, " Surely the Lord is in this place and I did not know it!"
