Pastoral Care at St Luke's
Jesus was very clear in his instruction to “love one another as I have loved you”, and that this would define us as Christians. Pastoral care is broad – from the highlights and happy moments of our life, to the low times – and here we adopt the maxim: “Let my heart be broken by the things that break the heart of God”.
[And so] There is a robust and dynamic pastoral care programme in place at St Luke’s. [Just] Some of these activities are:
- Communion to the sick and housebound
- Hospital visiting
- Visiting the elderly in local area retirement homes
- Visiting schools in the local area
- Caring for the bereaved
- Counselling for those in any type of need - Anglicare at St. Luke's
- The family cross – a symbol of love given to a St Luke’s family every week
- Celebrating birthdays and anniversaries within the St Luke’s family
- St. Luke's @ Home
And lots of fun events! Get togethers, parties, and generally members of our family feel loved and appreciated!
Pastoral care does not fit a specific “shape” – it is ongoing and new things are happening all the time. Come and be part of this challenging ministry!
