Caring for the Elderly in local Retirement Homes and Villages

Pioneer House

St Luke's involvement with Pioneer House goes back many years.  We visit them regularly.  We do Morning Prayer once a week, and communion once a month.  We support them by attending fund raisers, fetes, and their annual Carol Service.  If anyone has half an hour to spare, please contact the office - Many of these Senior Citizens are placed there by their families who then move away, sometimes overseas.  The residents then have no family to visit them and are often very lonely.  Sometimes all they need is a five minute visit, someone to show they care

Ministry to Randjes Estate

Some 5 years ago, following an AE mission, a group of lay people from different churches got together to minister to the people on the estate.  It is a totally interdenominational ministry and includes chapel services every Tuesday (members of our Ministers Fraternal take services on a roster basis), home and sick visiting, Bible study groups - even an Alpha course and now Boundaries also!  This group ministry has changed the culture of Randjes because it is so inclusive.  We desperately need more people to join our team - whether it is to visit people or help as a sidesperson at the weekly service.  All of this would be on a roster basis so we would use as many - or few - hours as you can spare!  Please talk to Maureen in the first instance.
