Lighthouse (7-10 year olds)

We are Lighthouse!

Ok, now that you have chosen to visit our page let us tell you upfront that we are the most
vibrant group ever!  Others will disagree but we know we are.  We come together for praise
and worship, and are learning to love all the Bible Stories before going to our individual classes.

We have the coolest leaders out!  Come and check them out...  They even participate in our activities and when they teach, we listen but who wouldn't cos what we learn is really interesting.  Seriously though, there is no better way of learning than through fun and when we say fun we mean serious fun!

 This is Trevor

Lighthouse is led by Trevor Read and supported by Cindy Geffen, Wendy Berman, Donna Kippen, Sonja Read, Linden Nel, Dave Fridjhon (with help from Lesley and Alan Clark, Mervyn and Trudy Low).  Word out says we are getting a few more leaders...Yes please!

What is Lighthouse?

A bunch of kids from grade 1 to 4.
A group of boys and girls having fun and more.
(Actually to grade 5 but then that doesn't rhyme
 - maybe next time).

At first we gather for a story,
Then we stop to sing a song.
Then we have another story
Then we all can shout along.

We get to say a memory verse
Which sometimes is a little terse.
We break up into little groups
And are led away like happy troops.

Grades 1 and 2 with Auntie Donna
And Auntie Sonia who is sometimes gonna.
Grade 3 boys and girls with Auntie Cindy
Even when its kinda windy.

Grades 4 and 5 boys and girls are split
Cos sometimes the boys tend to spit.
I think we all have lots of fun
And learn a lot as we go along.

Lighthouse Kid's Church - Children's' Wisdom

The weekly Bible Memory Verse slot is proving very popular with many of the children, not only because of the sweet rewards, but also because of the excitement and interest generated around the discussion. The debate stimulates some original and often amusing ideas. Recently, for example, the memory verse for the week was:

"With man this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible". Matthew 19:26

The children offered a wide variety of examples of things that were impossible for man - including this one from a Grade 1 girl:

"It is impossible for man to lick his elbow"!

Love to you all

:-)

Who is Cindy? and what does she do?

I'm teaching grade 3. There are 5 children that I am preparing for baptism at the moment and 10 that I will start preparing to receive communion when classes recommence in a couple of weeks. It is the most wonderful privilege to walk with these children on this journey as they are so receptive to the Gospel and love to learn. They are each given a Bible on St Lukes Day when they are admitted to Communion - something very special for them
