Marriage Prep

Many couples descend on St Luke's wishing to be married within its beautiful walls but actually gain far more in terms of both their spirituality and marriage journey.  Not only do couples meet with Jerry or Allan, but they also take part in the Prepare/ Enrich programme.  This is a secular programme developed in America and refined over the past two decades to enable couples to go into marriage both relishing its prospect but also recognising what it entails in terms of sharing, caring and being in each other's space rather a lot.  The couple is encouraged to look at the different rhythms of their families of origin, to explore communication and conflict resolution and that ever tenuous question of finances.   Strength and areas of growth are highlighted preparing the couple for a realistic lifetime together.  There are five couples trained at Family Life Centre who work with the programme at St Luke's.   It involves four to five two hour sessions once a week.  It's honest, confidential, interesting, at times challenging, but mostly an extraordinary blessing to both couples involved.
