Bulletin Highlights (15 August '10)

Where is the prophetic voice our society seems to be calling for today?  Where is the man or woman called to raise that voice, and in service to that salt and light? Why does the Church seem more silent than it used to be? Is it silent?
We are the Church, and so is the great cloud of witnesses - those who having paid the cost of commitment have gone on before us.  Will we let them challenge and inspire us, cheering us on, to run and serve and trust.
And will we so fix our eyes upon Jesus that we can raise our voice and serve in love and obedience even as they did?  (Heb 12:1-2, 12)

Please let us know if you are ill or going in to hospital, or if you are aware of this in someone else.  Please do not assume that we know, sometimes we don't.  We would rather be told more than once than find out afterwards.

PRESS-ON  Ironing Service every Monday

As many are aware, Press-On is an initiative started to give work to unemployed people.  The ladies ‘employed' by Press-On rely on the money they make on a Monday-and that money is dependant on the amount of laundry brought in to be ironed.  At the moment they have very little work and are therefore not earning much money.  If you know of any potential customers-please tell them about Press-On -

» Drop off washed and dried laundry on Monday mornings between 07h30 and 10h00

» R 10 per kilo

» Collect (usually) the same day, either at lunch time or at 16h30.

"Public Servant Sentence"

"Write a sentence about a public servant," said the teacher.

The small boy wrote, "The fireman came down the ladder pregnant."

The teacher took the lad aside to correct him. "Don't you know what pregnant means?" she asked.

"Sure," said the young boy confidently. "It means carrying a child."
