Bulletin Highlights (25 July '10)
The Apostles saw Jesus walk on water, calm the storm, and raise the dead. Yet when they came to him with a request, it was, 'Lord, teach us to pray'.
They saw that prayer was such a powerful force in His life, that it was prayer that made the miracles happen, that it was prayer that enabled Jesus to stay so close to the Father.
Jesus often spent a whole night in prayer. He did so before He chose the Apostles; He did it again before His sermon on the Mount; and He did it before He faced Calvary.
The disciples saw the source of his power, and wanted to share it.

Thursday Morning Eucharist
Anxiety is an all-too-common feature of modern life but, as always, the Bible has a solution. Psalm 23, the best known portion of the Bible, is an amazingly rich source of comfort for us, and clearly shows us how to place our burdens at the foot of the cross of Christ who promises to give us rest.
David will be preaching a series on Psalm 23 at the 9:30 Eucharist service every Thursday for the next few weeks. The service is normally over by 10:15, but some stay for tea afterwards. Do come if you can make some time available on Thursdays. You will be very welcome.
eco note-an ‘air' tip

PRESS-ON Ironing Service every Monday
As many are aware, Press-On is an initiative started to give work to unemployed people. The ladies ‘employed' by Press-On rely on the money they make on a Monday-and that money is dependant on the amount of laundry brought in to be ironed. At the moment they have very little work and are therefore not earning much money. If you know of any potential customers-please tell them about Press-On -
» Drop off washed and dried laundry on Monday mornings between 07h30 and 10h00
» R 10 per kilo
» Collect (usually) the same day, either at lunch time or at 16h30.

"Thomas"
A man in a supermarket was pushing a cart which contained, among other things, a screaming baby.
As the man proceeded along the aisles, he kept repeating softly, "Keep calm, Thomas. Don't get excited, Thomas. Don't yell, Thomas."
A lady watched with admiration and then said, "You are certainly to be commended for your patience in trying to quiet little Thomas."
"Lady," he declared, "I'M THOMAS!"
