Allan grew up in Pretoria (when it was still Pretoria) when it was a small city and neighbourly. He attended a variety of educational institutions in various languages (German, English, Afrikaans - Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Reformed, couldn't care) and spent some time working in the old ISCOR works in Pretoria eating metal dust in the air. He and Linda have spent 11 years (non-consecutively) in Grahamstown - the centre of the universe. He has been around the Province a bit and is happily ensconced at St Luke's.
