Sacristans Ministry

Although being a Sascristan is very much a ‘background' position in the church, it plays a part in ensuring that the services run smoothly.  This service is currently being performed by five ladies who are each responsible for one week in the month and they come during the period between the 09h30 service on a Thursday and the 07h30 service on a Sunday.  Some of the duties entail replacing the altar cloths etc, with clean linen, washing all the glasses, containers and chalices in the vestry, replenishing the wafers and wine for the various communion services and replacing the candles for the altar.  They also make sure there is a Bible, hymn book, prayer book , note book and pen for the participating priest and Parish ministers and that there is fresh water on the pulpit and at the back of the church.  I would like to take this opportunity of thanking the ladies who have taken on this responsibility.
